sunflower cover up by Joe

Lilly had first came for a consultation to discuss covering her old tattoo which was some script on her arm. Originally we went for roses but then Lilly had a change of mind and we booked again for another session. I cant stress enough how important it is for the client to be 100% with the image they want, I would rather re book and spend time planning a little and drawing a new piece rather than a list minute job, it was a tricky coverup because of the size and scale Lilly wanted the flower and how much we could use to cover the old tattoo. But I came up with a final design for her and everything went smoothly in the end,  and the sun flower tattoo came out like i imagined . feeling grateful 🙂 @incognetojoe

anime tattoos

Its been great working on some anime pieces over the last few months, feel grateful for clients bringing me pieces which i loves to tattoo and feel really passionate about. One of the tattoos (the brand of sacrifice) is from an anime called berserk which was one of the first anime’s i watched! when i actually got the email about this piece i was watching the show!

I still need another session on the #itatchi piece and the shenron, haku sleeve. I cant wait to finish them!

Skuller cover up by @artofgallo

Sophie came to me with a tattoo she wanted covering up with a skull designs, I couldn’t really use a full skull because I needed to use the darkest area of the skull and largest (this been the open skull mouth). So i came up with an idea to use the top half of the skulls jaw to cover up the star. We will be adding a rose to this piece also. skulls are always super fun and organic to do, most of the the time i don’t look at much reference i just use my own shapes and textures. @artofgallo

Japanese anime sleeve in progress by Joe@artofgallo

I have had the pleasure of people asking me to do some really nice pieces that mean alot to me as well as the client because i too had similar experiences when growing up to they have in there tattoos. Adam gave me the idea of incorporating two dragons from different anime shows into one sleeve.  So far we have done all of the background work and now started shading the body of shenron (dragon ball Z) and haku(spirited away). Really enjoying the piece as i put alot of time into the drawing and gave my own influence on the sleeve mainly a Japanese look.

Looking forward to our next session which will mainly be scale work on shenron, i normally leave the faces until last as I want to put alot of detail into them whilst keeping the body less saturated ^_^ I too recently just got back into watching dragon ball Z after stopping after the majin buu saga for some reason, and also the super shows too!

here is the progress thus far! Joe. Please follow me @artofgallo
