I started this drawing around Christmas time and i actually completely forgot about it due to me getting sick for a few weeks (some xmas bug that was going around 🙁 ) I then randomly came across the sketch and decided to start finishing the drawing getting it ready to paint! Worked on the background first and then started to add a first layer onto my foreground. After letting it dry I then added details mainly into the dragons head and scales. Fun piece to paint, never get bored of dragon, they always come out different and have there own unique personalities ^_^ Please follow me @joegallotattoo
We first started by doing the top and bottom patterns you can see in the tattoo, after that we let them heal up and then worked on the large gap left in the middle. Lauren wanted some roses in the middle and gave me freedom of style. I wanted to give detail in my own way to the roses, fine lines and darker compared to the patterns surrounding. Came out great, enjoyed doing it, shes a really nice and chilled out client, cant ask for more ^_^ Joe. Please follow me on instagram @artofgallo
In this post I would like to display an example of how I work. I build my tattoos by layers. That allows me to give more to the tattoo without too much skin damage, and better healing. Patience and having faith in your process is a really important topic when getting tattooed. As you can see the first layer healed doesn’t look great, then after second layer is added the tattoo transforms. Sometimes the tattoo mite take 3 layers or more depending on size and detail. Thats why I drop my prices, so the client can come back and add more layers. A lot of tattoos are delivered quiet fast, and thats is due to one layer appliance, witch it results with a 2d looking tattoo, flat sighted. In my opinion it doesn’t please my eyes as much. Not everyone will agree, but that’s how I see it. I respect everyone’s taste.
Phil gave me a rough sketch that friend had done for him and wanted it tattooing. The image was cool and knew that i could draw something up better and give my own ideas on to the piece for him. He was really open minded and allowed me be really creative. I really wanted add some water for the mermaid in a more illustrative way for him. Was a super fun piece done in one sitting which i did think would take longer but because he sat so well the tattoo process went smooth. Thanks, Joe
It was a pleasure working on Edwards Phoenix Tattoo. He gave a lot of freedom with the design. So I tried to create a lot of movement. He had such a good laugh when we were doing the tattoo, that we had to stop a few times. I felt like I knew him for a long time. He left a really nice comment on google. Thank you Edwards you are ace!
Galleon Ship Tattoo by Joe Galloway
Added a galleon ship tattoo today as part of a black and grey sleeve tattoo I am currently working on. first sessions we did some basic and a few fine lines then came back and added mainly texture and the bottom area of the tattoo. I wanted to make the ship dark and ruined, looking more like a ghost ship rather than just a normal galleon. More about this Tattoo
